Wacky Canadians

Look at the wonderful designs the Canadian design firm Karacters Design Group made for Silver Hills Bakery.  I'm sure the Squirrels will be very happy.

Mission Accomplished

Dani's 15 Items box arrived at her house today. I'm not sure if the 14 mice made it but the cat looks like it had a good time...

Screw Nintendo!

Boxer's recent Mute Monday on False Advertising brought back some fun memories of the crushing of childhood expectations.  Who doesn't remember looking at the backs of their comic books and wanting their own Sea Monkey Family complete with magnificant Sea Monkey Castle?  Those kids who successfully pestered their parents enough to actual send away for their very own Sea Monkey Family had their tiny little hopes dashed on the hard plastic castle of their dreams.  It's not surprising that the instigator of Sea Monkeys was also the man that brought us The Invisible Goldfish (think pet rock).  Still who could resist that illustration and the prospect of hot seamonkey sex?  When you're expecting this...

...and get this when....

... we REALLY wanted this.

Now, I actually had an ant farm.  I don't think I had it for long...and I certainly didn't have a Queen Ant (again, looking for that hot ant sex) but after the Do It Yourself Inking System and the new rug Incident, there was no way I was getting something else that could be destructive to home and hearth.  Sadly little did my parents realize that even simple toys in the hands of the right child could always be destructive.

Oh yes, no Superball in the house. Let's just say no glass lamp shades were safe when SUPERBALL was around.

Clackers.  These were really no no's.  Dangerous to objects and limbs.  Emergency room visits weren't cheap back then either.

I had SERIOUS Wham-O Air Blaster Gun lust.  C'mon, look at that graphic.  Yeah, no amount of persuasion worked on a loud gun toy.

What were your toy lusts growing up?

PhotoMicrography

Photomicrography is the photography through a light microscope.    Nikon has been holding a Small World photography competition since 1974.  You can check out the galleries of each year here.  Incredibly beautiful.
